Ancestry research – 1881 census shows Tryphena aged 17, born in Polruan, working as a general servant in Talland Street, Polperro. She married John G Lakes in 1884 and by 1891 census it shows Tryphena as a widow, in the Coombs, Polperro, with two young daughters Elsie aged 5 & Nora aged 2 years. Another 3 years later in 1894, aged 30 years, Tryphena dies and the two young girls go to live with Aunt Annie, in Hampshire.
