Ancestry records – Father – Alexander Gordon Cowie (1889-1916) Educated at Cambridge University. A first class cricketer – an “Alarmingly fast” right-arm bowler. Officer in Special Reserve (1911). Captain in the Seaforth Highlanders, first wounded in 1915, but then fatally wounded while serving in Mesopotamia, aged 27years. Mother – Helen Grace Williams (1893-1969). At the time of her husbands death, Helen had twin girls aged 2years and a new born baby girl. She married again (1920) to Alexander Hugh Gatehouse.
