Rachel Batten (1839-1887) was baptised on the 8th December 1839 at Lansallos. She later married in 1866 at Stoke Damerel, Devon, Joseph William Gedye who became the innkeeper and licenced victualler of the ‘Three Pilchards’ in Polperro.
