Ancestry records – show on the 1851 census: Samuel Slade, Master Carpenter, employing 1 man. Wife, Jane, and three daughters, dressmakers, include Elizabeth & Selina, and one son. Living at 12 Bevil’s Rowe, Coombs, Polperro. On the 1861 census: Samuel Slade, Carpenter, and Widow. Living alone on the Coombs.
Samuel Slade (1789-1866) was the eldest son of Samuel (1762-1809) and Elizabeth Libby (1768-) who married at Talland in 1788. Elizabeth was the eldest daughter of John Libby and Agnes Minards.
Samuel Slade (1789-1866) married Jane Hambly of Fowey in 1815 and became a master carpenter. They had 11 children:

- Samuel (1816-1900) married Elizabeth Snell (daughter of Joseph Snell and Elizabeth) – this family moved to Poplar, Middlesex where Samuel was a master carpenter and model maker.
- Thomas (b1817), also a carpenter.
- John Jones (b1819) married Ann H. John, and later his sons, Samuel, John and Peter were shoe/boot makers.
- Jane Ann (1821-1895) married fisherman John Oliver (son of Jane Simons and John Oliver).
- Elizabeth (1822-1853), dressmaker. She and her sister Mary never married.
- Mary (1824-1846); ‘the faithful servant of Duloe Rectory’ see Headstone 335
- Susan Dunford (b1826) married postman James Edgecombe in 1852.
- William (b 1829), cabinet maker, married Ann Fiddick.
- Agnes (1829-1830), twin sister of William.
- Agnes (b1830) married agricultural labourer Charles Leach in 1850.
- Selina (1833-1855) married master mariner William Toms (son of Francis Toms and Mary Keast) in 1855 and died five months later.
