stone citation

Charles Turner (1760-1833), married Mary Harris (1761-1828) at Talland church on 28 February 1786. His Will, dated 18th January 1833, describes him as a Yeoman of Polperro in the parish of Talland. He bequeathed a house and about £500 to named family and friends; also silver spoons, wearing apparel and high bedstead with bedding. He distributed monies to the poor through churches in Polperro, Pelynt & East Looe. His will was proved, in London, on 4th March 1833.

Charles Turner has his name inscribed on one of the bells in the belfry of Talland Church, dated 1788, although the bell was re-cast in 1913. He shares the duty of churchwarden with Nathaniel Hearle, also named on the bell.
