- In the 1861 census Mary Ann Eliot was a widow, living with her 9 year old son William, b.1852 at Wayland Farm where her father, John Marshall b.1805, a widow, was the farmer of 45 acres.
- In the 1851 census Mary was a widow, without a baby, living with her father, as above.
- West Devon parish records show Mary Ann Marshall, aged 22years, born in Morval, married William Elliott, of Brixham, in 1851, aged 25years.
- This is a late date for an intramural burial; ‘The Burial Acts of the 1850’s banned interior church burials for reasons of space and hygiene’.
