~ Marble ~ Rectangular stone with strong marbling, veins slightly pink, all in good condition. Roman lettering and old English vernacular. The only decoration is to the dropped capital letter which is outlined and has an incised heart above and below the central horizontal line of the letter ‘H’.

Hampshire records show a Will of widow, Sarah Summers née Durrant, of Hythe, Fawley, Hampshire, located on The Solent, dated 1710, which is where her husband, Edward Summers met his demise, as written on his ledger stone, dated 1708. They were married on 30th December 1675 in Fawley, Hampshire. Both marble stones are written in a similar style and script.
