stone citation
The stone declares that Joseph Harding was from Port Looe, but when he died, aged 45, he was living at Liskeard Lodge, and a Yeoman of Liskeard parish.
A baptism date of 16 December 1787, at Talland church, shows that he had a twin sister called Mary; his father was named as William and his mother Rebecca, also buried at the church.
Mary was also the name of his wife, documented on the baptisms of their children, which show them living at Hendersick, where he was a farmer; in 1829, when his 7th child was recorded, it showed Joseph, farmer of North Port Looe. We can be sure William Ledger Stone 28 was his father, as William names his family members in his will. His mother Rebecca Headstone 86, is buried in the east graveyard, and his sister Catharine, Ledger Stone 27.
Joseph Harding was Church Warden at Talland church in the years 1828 & 1829.
