- Samuel Prynn is named in the Talland Parish records as a churchwarden in the years 1773, 1778 & 1783. His initials appear on one of the church bells, dated 1773, which was recast in 1913.
- Samuel Prynn married Elizabeth Robins on 27 August 1764 at Talland Church. Her parents were Parkyns Robins and Abigail Mynard.
- Other members of the family are found in the graveyard at Talland Church:
- Son: – Tombchest – Captain of His Majesty’s Royal Navy Parkins Prynn (1777-1838) wounded twice in the Battle of Trafalgar, retired, living at Darloe House, West Looe.
- Grandsons: – Parkins Prynne (1810-1830) & George Francis Prynne (1811-1830), each aged 19 years, whose surnames were amended to include an additional ‘e’ sometime after their deaths, most probably after 1852, when their younger brother John Basset Prynne (1827-1875) was promoted to Captain.
In September 1781 Samuel Prynn was described as: Shipwright of West Looe and Master to the apprentice Edward Parrs.
