Memorial Verse

This memorial can be connected to other young children’s burials inside and outside Talland Church. The Will of Reginold Barrett (1730-1779) states he was a mariner of Talland Parish. He married Mary Toms (1726-1762) in Lansallos on 23 June 1753. Ledger Stone 15 records her death and that of their son Reginold Barrett (1756-1761). Seven months after his wife’s death, Reginold married Phillis Rowet (1741-) on 16 April 1763 at Talland Church. A further three of their children are remembered; Filley Barrett (1765-1765) Ledger Stone 15 and Reginold Barrett (1766-1769) together with William Barrett (1769-1770) on a Headstone 89 in the east graveyard. There are many different spellings for both forenames and surnames.
